Display shelf in quartersawn white oak with walnut accents. Finished in blonde shellac.
The vertical piece of the shelf is in two pieces. The lower portion is attached to the wall with toggle bolts hidden behind the pegs, and supports the upper portion with a French cleat. The upper portion of the vertical is attached with through-tenons to the corbels. The corbels take their shape from the curve of a gothic arch.
Atop the shelf is a woodcarving in butternut I helped my daughter carve.

Great shelf, with the addition of the corbels it gives it just enough detail to give it a little extra character.
Nice job (and tell your daughter nice work carving the piece on top of the shelf).
